Are you interested in learning more about immigration? Have your questions answered by area experts and receive a comprehensive overview of the U.S. immigration system — from a look at the pathways to a green card and U.S. citizenship, how our immigration court and detention and deportation systems work, to navigating common legal challenges faced by immigrants. Leave with an overall understanding of the immigration system, including:
- Categories of immigrants - citizens, refugees and asylum seekers, visa/green card holders, DACA recipients, birthright citizenship, and undocumented persons

PANEL DISCUSSION EXPLORES U.S. IMMIGRATION SYSTEM
“Ask Us About the U.S. Immigration System” features local experts in conversation
TOLEDO, Ohio — Questions about the United States’s immigration system abound, but the answers are sometimes difficult to find. This need for conversations about the nation’s complicated immigration system is why the Toledo Lucas County Public Library is hosting “Ask Us About the U.S. Immigration System,” a free panel discussion on Tuesday, June 17, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Main Library.
Presented in partnership with Welcome TLC, Welcome BG, the Multifaith Council of Northwest Ohio and the Toledo Library, the event will feature local experts who will answer questions and lead a conversation about the common legal challenges immigrants face while navigating the U.S. immigration system.
Panelists include:
- Eugenio Mollo, Jr., clinical assistant professor of law and director of the Immigrant Justice Clinic at the University of Toledo College of Law;
- Dr. Kefa Otiso, professor of geography at Bowling Green State University and a founding member of the New African Immigrant Commission of Ohio; and
-Mechelle Zarou, chief people and culture officer and deputy general counsel at the Sisters of St. Francis.
