Unfortunately, last night was worse than the night before. The nature of the explosive devices near Kamal Adwan Hospital was alarming, as it is clear that the amount of explosives used was significantly larger this time. The shrapnel from these blasts penetrated the building and struck one of the patients’ rooms, injuring Nurse Hassan Al-Dabous directly. He suffers a severe head injury, with his skull shattered and fractures to his face and jaw. He is currently in intensive care, and his condition is very serious.
Kamal Adwan Hospital lacks the resources to adequately handle such severe cases. We are making efforts to transfer patients to other hospitals, and I hope to move Hassan to Al Ahli Hospital for surgery and the necessary neurological specialist.
At this moment, I must emphasize that we are still under threat. Just a short while ago, a staff member was injured by shrapnel from an explosive dropped by a quadcopter. She was injured by a shrapnel in the neck and is currently in moderate condition. The explosives are targeting areas close to the hospital, and we are concerned about ongoing attacks.
The last explosion occurred around 4:30 AM. The blast was so powerful that it destroyed nearly everything—doors, windows, internal barriers, and glass—inside the hospital, rendering the intensive care department almost non-functional. We are currently transporting supplies from other areas of the hospital to treat the injured, including Hassan Al-Dabous, but we are doing so with great caution due to fears of further bombings.
Right now, there are approximately 75 wounded individuals, along with their companions, and 180 medical personnel, bringing the total number of people in the hospital to around 350.
We continue to be denied access to food, medical supplies, and medical delegations, and we are urgently seeking international protection for our healthcare system. Unfortunately, there have been no assurances regarding medical support for our staff and facilities.
We are doing our best to repair what we can within the hospital to provide better service, but the situation remains catastrophic.
I appealed to the world and I continue to appeal for protection for our healthcare system and its workers.
