CAIR-WA Report Shows Washington State Muslims Overwhelmingly Likely to Have Experienced Bias or Discrimination

"The Washington Muslim Survey marks a pivotal moment for our community, providing us with the necessary data to advocate for meaningful policy change," said Najma Osman, Policy Associate at CAIR-WA. "By illuminating the diverse experiences and challenges faced by Muslims in Washington, this survey equips us with the insights needed to engage effectively with lawmakers. It is imperative that our leaders consider this data in their decision-making processes to create inclusive policies that promote equity and protect the rights of all communities in our state.” 

“Leaning on vile Islamophobic tropes to try to get an edge in a campaign on the mere fact your opponent is Muslim, is not only repugnant and un-American, but suggests a sort of political shallowness: you have nothing better to offer than sleaze,” said CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab. “We urge election authorities to investigate this slander.”

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director, Afaf Nasher, Esq., stated:  

“This latest round of the SRG’s assaults against protesters is a despicable representation of how Mayor Adams and the NYPD unleash violence on those daring to speak up against the ongoing massacres in Gaza and Lebanon. Time and time again we are seeing violence erupt at the hands of police officers betraying the constitutional right to peaceful protest…” 

CAIR also commended the Muslim Civic Coalition for its role in advancing this crucial resolution and highlighting the pressing need for justice.

“We are deeply moved by the Senate’s acknowledgment of Wadee AlFayoumi’s memory and the urgency to fight hate and bigotry,” said Robert McCaw, CAIR Government Affairs Director. “His murder is a painful reminder of the deadly consequences of anti-Palestinian hate and Islamophobia. We also thank the Muslim Civic Coalition for their tireless efforts in securing this resolution and standing firm against hate.”

In a statement, CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper said:

“The far-right Israeli government and its extremist supporters are usurping and desecrating Islamic holy sites as part of their campaign of cultural genocide. The nations of the world, especially Muslim-majority nations, must take action to stop these desecrations. The Biden administration must also change its policy of unlimited support for a government that has violated every international norm and standard.”
