Israel Miscalculates as it Turns the War from Hamas to Hezbollah

Israel recently escalated tensions by remotely attacking Hezbollah’s communication network, causing explosions in South Lebanon, South Beirut, the eastern Bekaa, and Damascus, so far, killing 12 and injuring over 2,700. Although most Israelis desire an end to the war and a withdrawal from Gaza, their government has not acted on these demands. Arab America contributing writer Ghassan Rubei highlights that despite large protests, there is no ceasefire in Gaza, and Israel's leaders are threatening an invasion of Lebanon. Israel's defense minister recently stated that "military action" may be the only way to end violence with Hezbollah. As tensions escalate along Israel’s northern border, there is a growing risk of regional conflict involving both Israel and the U.S.
