CAIR-MI: Ann Arbor police seek suspects in alleged anti-Jewish attack – Detroit News
In a statement Monday, Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the group is offering a $1,000 reward for tips to the Ann Arbor Police Department that lead to an arrest and conviction in the incident.
"Everyone in Ann Arbor should be safe to express their ethnic and religious identity without fear of being assaulted nor menaced," he said in a statement Monday. "We call on anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information relating to this reported attack to immediately contact the Ann Arbor Police Department.
He also said Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy as well as all other forms of bigotry.

Basha Jamil, a policy manager with the Council on American Islamic Relations, said at last week’s school board meeting that understanding the plight of Palestinians is a crucial aspect to ethnic studies.
“Our education should not be shaped by political agendas that try to silence the reality of ongoing oppression and genocide,” she said.
“We absolutely need to teach about antisemitism. However, we must ensure that legitimate criticism of the State of Israel isn’t conflated with antisemitism.”

“Inviting any individual who has allegedly documented their presence in the homes of families suffering from forced displacement and genocide perpetuates a narrative of oppression, exacerbates tensions on campus, and fosters an unhealthy academic environment,” CAIR’s Zainab Chaudry said in a statement about the invitation extended by Johns Hopkins Hillel, a Jewish students group.

Opponents of antiboycott laws, meanwhile, have argued they violate the First Amendment, which protects the rights to free speech and peaceful protest. Gadeir Abbas, a senior litigation attorney with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy group, said the letter is part of an antiboycott “hysteria.”
“In this climate, any university should take that letter as a threat,” he said. “Brown University has constitutional rights as well.”

A survey published in August by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) found that just under a third of American Muslims said they were planning to vote for Harris, with a similar number saying the plan to vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
