Next Monday, August 12, a Toledo City Council committee is set to vote on O-338-24, an ordinance that will allow the Toledo Police Department to accept armored military equipment known as an Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicle.
Toledo Police are claiming these will not be used against protesters or citizens - BUT they won't put that in writing. They claim these will only be used for barricade, hostage, and natural disaster situations - even though those scenarios are rare, and other vehicles already owned by the city can do the same thing.
Please join us in the City Council Chambers at One Government Center on Monday, August 12 at 4PM as we deliver verbal testimony against this proposal.
