![]() POCLAD July 13 Webinar InviteGreetings POCLAD supporter! When we launched POCLAD in 1994 we created a printed flyer inviting you to Engage US in the idea that giant corporations do not merely exercise power, but that they are literally ruling over us. At the time, it was a radical notion. Today, corporate rule is pretty much accepted reality by most social change agents With humility, we believe POCLAD played an important role in providing inspiration and an intellectual framework for the global justice movement, Occupy Wall Street, and multiple calls to abolish corporate constitutional rights. And we are not done yet! So we extend another invitation to engage us. This time, it is an electronic invitation. Rather than try to convince you that corporations are ruling us, this time we are inviting you into a conversation to ask: How Can We Build a Democracy Movement to Transform Society During a Pandemic? We will do a deep-dive on Cooperation Humboldt (co-founded by POCLAD principal David Cobb) as a case-study. If you are interested in joining that conversation, just click the link below on Monday, July 13 10am pacific, 11am mountain, 12pm central, 1pm eastern. Zoom Meeting Meeting ID: 856 8531 9020 If you have any questions or comments about this webinar, please contact David directly at Davidkcobb@PROTECTED

The Calendar is a joint production of the national Program on Corporations, Law & Democracy (POCLAD) and the former Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). Much of its base comes from the research and writings of individuals connected to both organizations on these themes over the last two decades. |

By What Authority is published by the POCLAD. The title is English for quo warranto, a legal phrase that questions illegitimate exercise of privilege and power. We the people and our federal and state officials have long been giving giant business corporations illegitimate authority. Today, a minority directing giant corporations and backed by police, courts, and the military, define our culture, govern our nation, and plunder the earth. By What Authority reflects an unabashed assertion of the right of the sovereign people to govern themselves.
