TOLEDO OPPOSES IMMINENT U.S. WAR AGAINST IRAN

The Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition will be turning out at 12:00 Noon EST at the intersection of Central and Secor in Toledo, Ohio on January 4, 2020 to demonstrate against the drone bombing assassination of 7 people at Baghdad airport on January 2, including the top general of the Iranian military. We ask for the public to join us. It is very important to act against the extraordinary U.S. provocations of the past 24 hours.  This is part of a national emergency response to the continued U.S. military occupation of Iraq.

     Following the United States attack on the Baghdad International Airport on Thursday evening, which killed seven people, including Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and two top Iraqi members of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), reportedly U.S. Marines carried out arrest raids inside Baghdad, capturing high ranking Iraqi member of Parliament Hadi al-Amiri and militia leader Qais al-Khazali. These Iraqi leaders are accused of being connected with Iran and plotting to make war against U.S. troops in Iraq.

THINGS ARE VERY CLOSE TO WAR BETWEEN THE U.S. AND IRAN. U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper declared that “the game has changed,” threatening a US preemptive attack on Iran.  He said that the US already has “some indications out there that they may be planning additional attacks.”  Esper also blamed the protests at the US Embassy in Baghdad on Iran, saying that “Iranian-backed Shia militia members showed up wearing their uniforms.” The protests were a response to the US attacking Iraqi militia sites, so indeed many of the protesters were from that same militia. By claiming the Iraq militia is “Iranian-backed,” then blaming Iran for the protests, then threatening to attack Iran if they think the militia is going to retaliate for being attacked, all adds up to the U.S. plan to inject itself into a deliberately-provoked war with Iran.

    Even if the US stops short of attacking Iran, U.S. forces are liable to attack any number of targets that they pretend are Iran for the sake of talking points, all aimed at provoking an armed response from Iran.

PLEASE HELP OPPOSE THIS DANGEROUS DIVERSION BY A PRESIDENT FACING IMPEACHMENT..
