Here is the response we received from Congressman Latta, after I contacted his office by phone and letters recently, to call for an end to U.S. aid to Israel,
in light of it’s recent mass killing of Palestinian civilians, including children, and ongoing settlements on Palestinian land.
It’s the closest response by any representative I’ve ever received, to the reality of our government’s vast amount of money sent to Israel.
He seems to encourage our continued responses of objection. Please let your voices be heard. His aid/secretary listened patiently as I recounted the latest
atrocities committed with impunity.

Dr. Thomas and Mrs.Anne Abowd 3912 Brookside Rd Ottawa Hills, OH 43606-2309
Dear Dr. Abowd:
Thank you for contacting me in opposition to continued security assistance to Israel. In order to make sound voting decisions, I need to hear from the constituents in the Fifth Congressional District. I appreciate you taking the time to contact me with your thoughts on this issue, as I know how important it is to you. In 1948, the United States recognized the state of Israel. Ever since then, Israel has been the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II. To date, the United States has provided Israel $142.3 billion in bilateral assistance and missile defense funding. Most recently, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2019, (Public Law No: 116-6) provided 3.3 billion in Foreign Military Financing (FMF), of which $815.3 million is for off-shore procurement, $5 million in Migration and Refugee Assistance (MRA) for refugee resettlement, and $2 million in a homeland security grant to Israel. Additionally, for fiscal year 2019, the Department of Defense provided $500 million in missile defense. For FY2020, the Trump Administration requested $3.3 billion in FMF for Israel and $500 million in missile defense aid. The Administration also requested $5 million in MRA humanitarian funding for migrants to Israel. Please be assured that should legislation related to this issue come to the House Floor for a vote, I will keep the thoughts and views you have expressed with me in mind. Thank you again for contacting me on this issue. It is my great honor to serve as your Member of Congress and it is my number one priority to represent you and the best interests of the Fifth Congressional District. Please do not hesitate to call, write, or e-mail me in the future with any of your concerns or questions. For federal-related issues, you may reach my Washington, D.C. office by phone at (202) 225-6405, or my District office at (800) 541-6446 for constituent services.
