Save the date! From July 18-20, 2019, Voices for Creative Nonviolence will join with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s US Boats to Gaza campaign, supporting their North American Freedom Flotilla for Gaza project with three days of Chicago actions to include a Saturday July 20th mini-flotilla of kayaks, canoes and rowboats on the Chicago River, bearing messages in support of freedom for the people of Gaza. We are busy arranging housing options for out-of-town participants, and a modest flotilla of river-ready craft.
Since 2010, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition has sent many international flotillas sailing to Gaza to highlight the brutal violation of international law and of Gazans’ human rights that is the Israeli government’s lethal Gaza blockade. Voices members have joined past flotilla actions seeking to free Gazans from Israel's crushing economic siege and from repeated civilian massacres using sophisticated U.S.-supplied weapons. It is time to give Gazans desperately-needed access to food, fuel, medicine, employment, and basic human dignity. The next international sailing is in 2020, but this summer our message is for the people of the United States. Join us!
We will also host (Ret.) Col. Ann Wright (veteran of four past flotillas) and Gazan scholar/activist Jehad Abusalim for a July 18th speaking event at Chicago’s Grace Episcopal Church (637 S. Dearborn), and rally together on land at sites to be announced! Please don’t hesitate to get involved now by contacting Voices at info@PROTECTED or 773 878 3815.
