From: josiesetzler@PROTECTED Thanks for all who have responded. If you are willing to work with a small group of people to plan this rally, let me know and I’ll set up a call possibly for tomorrow evening.

I am dealing with some personal issues and lack of motivation and an overwhelming sense of helplessness. From: josiesetzler@PROTECTED To Tom, Karen, Terry, and all--
Thanks, Tom...now we have 4 of us talking about this! I'm dismayed that very few members of Congress have signed on to the bill to prevent war with Iran. (There's also a similar bill about Venezuela S.J.Res.11 which has even less interest.) I would do my best to bring a few people from Fremont and maybe Tiffin to a rally.
Meanwhile here are a couple of articles about the Embassy Protection Collective, whose members were arrested at the Venezuelan Embassy today.
Peace, Josie

A rally in front of Kaptur's office sounds do-able. The other group I'm part of -- the Social Justice Committee of the Association of Catholic Priests -- has a pretty substantial contact list and usually turns out 10-12 folks for rallies, etc. The Indivisible group could be another partner. I'll see if Bev Bingle has a contact in that group. (The Priests group also has a social justice Facebook page that we could access).

PEOPLE who still give a shit < people@PROTECTED> wrote: From: josiesetzler@PROTECTED Karen points out that hardly anyone supports the Sunday demos any longer. Maybe a “beefed up” one to say no to war with Iran would be an idea. But with only 3 people on this thread, it doesn’t look promising. Keeping a sense of community going among anti-war folks is foundational, but how? The run-up to war feels familiar, but the response feels very different. No national anti-war movement exists this time, as far as I can see. How does it start?
Anyway, if there’s a way for “people who still give a shit” to see each other face to face and talk some time, I wonder if that would help. Email doesn’t cut it. In Fremont, we have a small group that does Wednesday vigils and then goes out to dinner afterwards. Somehow that keeps us going, that and the honks. But it’s a tiny effort without an obvious path to join something beyond our street corner.
Enough for now. I’ll let it go.

A stand-alone demo, beefed up Sunday vigil? Series of events? Rally in front of Kaptur's office, conveniently located behind Channel 11, to demand she sign on to the below-listed legislative proposal? Other ideas? LTE's?
