Because if we knew the truth, we might act on it and people might go to jail to rot and there might be a deterrent and there might be a final opening for the rule of law and being governed by something other than money and power and watching Cheney and W and Colin and Rummie and Wolfie and most of the CIA and the Joint Chiefs do the perp walk would be therapeutic for the whole world.

So, we can't be allowed to know the truth.
