Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the tragic attacks on Sep 11th, 2001. We remember, reflect and mourn the 3000 victims of that horrendous day but we also mourn the 6799 American casualties of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the millions of innocent civilians who have paid the ultimate price for a crime they did not commit.
This Sunday, the Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition (NWOPC) will dedicate our weekly anti-war demonstration to commemorating the innocent lives lost on 9/11 and urging the US government to stop exploiting that tragic day as an excuse to wage unjustified imperialist wars on other nations.
Since the attacks fifteen years ago, trillions of dollars have been wasted on war. The US is currently involved in wars in seven countries: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Libya, and Somalia. Are we any safer? Is the world a better place? We cannot bomb people for peace. War only breeds more hatred and more terrorism. Wars, drones and torture are not the way to honor our victims and our fallen soldiers.
