Friends, amid the international churning and fomenting, the Ohio General Assembly is ramming through the biennial budget bill. One of the measures likely to be rolled into the 4000 page corporate gift wrapped present that will be passed by June's end is HB 291, which would set up the Ohio International Trade Commission to provide corporate welfare for business arrangements between Ohio and Israel, Ireland and two nations to be named.
Specifically as to the Israel relationship, the statute emphasizes joint development of "cyberwarfare" technologies. AMP is leading the opposition to any involvement with Israel at all.
This morning I filed the attached testimonial letter, demanding on behalf of NWOPC that the definition of "Israel" in the bill specifically not include Gaza and the West Bank. We figure that there is momentum for the bill to pass, and are holding out to at least win on a few amendments. AMP witnesses are very powerfully registering objections based on the cyberwarfare point as well as the absurd notion that the legislature is even considering partnering with Israel, pariah state.
I wish, what with all the crises we're having to deal with at once, that I'd had the chance to contact Don re CPA signon, but events conspired against having the time/room to do that.
It is probable that the house committee will, following today's hearing, vote HB 291 out to the floor to be passed by the full House.
