Subject: [EXTERNAL] You're Invited - A special virtual screening of Naila and the Uprising
Dear Khani,
I've been sitting in my home office in Jerusalem these past few weeks, jumping from headline to headline as events unfold furiously in Palestine and in the United States. It is hard to believe that we are now talking about political prisoners in the U.S., with Mahmoud Khalil facing deportation simply for organizing for Palestinian rights on his campus. It's that much more jarring to see the silencing of dissenters as Israel renews its full-fledged assault on Gaza, with one of the deadliest days in the genocide occurring just this week.
I find myself being called to ground, once again, in the enduring power of civil resistance and women's leadership.
I’m writing today to invite you to a special, virtual screening of Naila and the Uprising, followed by a timely discussion on Thursday, March 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM ET.

For those who are newer to our work, Naila and the Uprising chronicles the remarkable journey of Naila Ayesh and the clandestine network of women who led the largest nonviolent mobilization in Palestinian history—the First Intifada.
We have screened this film to audiences across the world over the years and know the depth of conversation it sparks. Today, Palestinian women are once again at the forefront—organizing mutual aid, sustaining their communities, and leading resistance efforts amid a genocide in Gaza. I trust that this screening and conversation will provide rich insights into our continued struggle and resilience.
Upon registering, you will receive early access to stream the film ahead of a live, virtual panel with the filmmakers. I’ll be joined by my dear colleagues, Suhad Babaa, Executive Director of Just Vision and Executive Producer of Naila and the Uprising, and Julia Bacha, the film’s Director and Just Vision’s Creative Director, for a discussion reflecting on the lessons of the First Intifada and their relevance today.
I hope you’ll join us as we continue uplifting the irreplaceable role that women play in civil resistance, especially at such a critical time.
With determination,
Rula Salameh Education and Outreach Director in Palestine Producer, Naila and the Uprising |
