NORTHWEST OHIO PEACE COALITION AND AREA ACTIVISTS JOIN PROTESTS ACROSS THE NATION TODAY AGAINST TRUMP ADMINISTRATION EXECUTIVE ORDERS AND CALL ON ALL CITIZENS TO RISE UP AND RESIST

FASCISM IN AMERICA!

On Monday, February 17, 2025, Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition and area allies will hold a Presidents Day Protest against Trump Administration orders at 1:00 pm at 1 Government Center in Toledo.

Area residents will unite in the name of Humanity to protest and resist the Trump and Musk administration’s illegal takeover of the federal government and its agencies to enrich the few.  By illegally seizing power over our federal agencies, this president and his unelected billionaire friends are creating a constitutional crisis. It is blatantly unconstitutional for the White House to attempt to dismantle federal agencies without the approval of Congress. Trump’s firestorm of authoritarian actions and executive orders are a brazen attempt to essentially eliminate the rule of law and democratic and civil rights in this country and create his own Fascist America.

The Trump administration fired thousands of workers, including at the Departments of Education, Energy and Veterans Affairs, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Office of Personnel Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, the General Services Administration and the Small Business Administration. This is only the beginning of what Trump’s fascist administration hopes to accomplish. They are serious about carrying out their threats and pose a danger to all of humanity and the planet.

We speak out today against the insane project of deporting 12 million undocumented immigrants – finding them, rounding them up and detaining them in hundreds of internment camps around the country or disappearing them into the offshore prison at Guantanamo Bay.

We also speak out today against President Trump’s decision to send $7.4 billion in weapons to Israel, including thousands of bombs and missiles, days after he hosted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. We unequivocally and widely condemn President Trump’s statement that he is committed to the ownership of the Gaza Strip and advocating once again for the forcible removal of approximately 2 million Palestinians in his ethnic cleansing plan. Any plan to forcibly deport Palestinians outside the occupied territory against their will is a war crime.

Susan Kuehn, convenor of Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition, maintains that “What we now have with the Trump-Musk Presidency is a captive state, shackled to white supremacy, Christian nationalism and Manifest Destiny - we must RESIST!”

Deb Johnson, member of People for Peace and Justice Sandusky County, states “We want to uphold the U.S. Constitution, the separation of powers, and the rule of law."
