In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful “Whoever commits evil will be rewarded accordingly, and they will find no protector or helper besides God. But those who do good- whether male or female- and have faith will enter Paradise and will never be wronged (even as much as) the speck on a date stone.” The Holy Quran, 4:123-12 |

On February 10, 2015, Deah Shaddy Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha were murdered in their home by their anti-Muslim neighbor, Craig Hicks, in a horrific hate crime that authorities initially falsely labeled a parking dispute. The perpetrator was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and eventually sentenced to life in prison. Their family founded the Our Three Winners Foundation in their memory. SEE: Our Three Winners In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said: “Ten years ago, Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha were murdered in their home in a cowardly anti-Muslim hate crime. In many ways, these three young American Muslims represented the best of our faith, our community, and our nation. Today, their legacy of compassion and service lives on through their families, their friends and the excellent work of the Our Three Winners foundation. “Sadly, hate crimes haven’t stopped. Islamophobia, anti-Arab hate, and violence against various communities are on the rise. We must continue to demand justice for victims of hate. We must continue to protect our communities and our neighbors. We must continue working to transform anti-Muslim bigotry from a mortal threat to a passing nuisance. “And we must honor Deah, Yusor, and Razan by remembering them in our prayers and carrying on their legacy of service. To Allah we belong, and to Allah we return.” |

| In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said: "Peaceful acts of protest and civil disobedience in the pursuit of a just cause are an American tradition. We commend the Super Bowl performer who courageously and peacefully raised awareness about ongoing war crimes against the people of Gaza and Sudan. "This brave act of peaceful protest should serve as a reminder that many Americans recognize the humanity of those suffering abroad as a result of American foreign policy, including Palestinians dealing with the aftermath of the Israeli genocide that our own government funded in Gaza amid complete silence from major athletic associations that have commented on other domestic and global injustices…” |

| In a statement, CAIR said: “The radical Israeli government is clearly trying to move its genocidal campaign of slaughter and destruction from Gaza to the West Bank, where Israeli occupation forces are driving thousands of Palestinians from their homes, destroying entire neighborhoods, kidnapping hundreds, and randomly shooting others, including an eight-months pregnant woman and her baby. Indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu is a sociopath leading an army of war criminals, and our government must stop spending American taxpayer dollars on his latest campaign of murder, ethnic cleansing and destruction in the West Bank." |

| READ Letter to Secretary Carolyn Scruggs. “We urge Maryland correctional facilities to take the necessary steps to ensure that incarcerated Muslims can practice their faith freely and fully including during the holy month of Ramadan,” said CAIR's Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. "Each year, our offices process complaints of basic religious accommodations that have been denied in these institutions. These accommodations aren't just a legal obligation, but also a matter of human dignity and respect." |

| CAIR-Florida Communications Director Wilfredo Amr Ruiz said: “It is unfortunate that Councilman Chandler Langevin has chosen to align himself with State Senator Randy Fine, a well-known anti-Muslim xenophobe. Langevin owes an apology not only to the half-million Muslims residing in the Sunshine State but also to the residents of Palm Bay, who reject being associated with his hateful rhetoric.” “We call on Mayor Medina, Deputy Mayor Jaffe and Councilmen Hammer and Johnson to publicly condemn Langevin’s statements and make it clear that they do not reflect the values of Palm Bay’s diverse community.” |
