Aid organizations operating in the Gaza Strip said the U.S. pier for aid distribution has failed in its mission, and it is likely to be dismantled weeks earlier than expected, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, since the completion of its construction about a month ago, the dock has been in use for only about ten days. The rest of the time, it was being repaired, or its activity was suspended due to security concerns.
U.S. military officials said the roughly $230M project, which aimed to boost the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, will likely not even meet the modest goals set for it, the report said.
