Dear Khani,
Just this morning, our team at Local Call, in partnership with +972 Magazine and The Guardian, published an explosive investigation.
Our team found that for nearly a decade, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has led a multiagency campaign to spy on top International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutors Karim Khan and Fatou Bensouda to thwart their probe into alleged war crimes. Intel was passed on to a clandestine team of government lawyers and diplomats who traveled to The Hague for secret meetings with ICC officials in an attempt to “feed [the chief prosecutor]” counter-intel to undermine the case against Israeli officials.
Former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen even threatened former prosecutor Bensouda, allegedly warning: “You should help us and let us take care of you. You don’t want to be getting into things that could compromise your security or that of your family.” When current prosecutor, Karim Khan announced his request for arrest warrants last week – for Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders – he issued a cryptic warning, a nod to the findings of this investigation: “I insist that all attempts to impede, intimidate, or improperly influence the officials of this court must cease immediately.”
These are just some of the incriminating findings of the joint investigation, which also includes details of Israeli spying on Palestinian human rights organizations reporting to the ICC in their case against Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
