Egypt: No objection to Israel assault on Rafah if border not crossed by Palestinians

This is a hideous development. Egypt will prevent any flight of Palestinians into Egypt once Israel commences the invasion of Rafah. Thus the Palestinians are truly backed against the wall once the invasion begins in earnest.
This gives another ready-made excuse to Israel when it pleads that it has exhausted all alternatives to try to minimize Palestinian deaths. Israel will be able to proceed with widespread atrocities in the name of rooting Hamas out of Rafah.
Throughout the genocide, Egypt's El-sisi government has been criticized by aid groups, Palestinians and Egyptians for not opening the Rafah crossing and letting humanitarian aid flow freely into Gaza. This reflects the consistent treachery and indifference of the regime of Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who as president of Egypt via coup has spent years repressing the moderate democratic Islamism associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. El-sisi overthrew the democratically elected president Mohammed Morsi using the military in 2013. Hamas is a radical arm that grew out of the Muslim Brotherhood and seen as a threat to Egypt's dictatorship.
