 | As Hamas weighs a new proposal for a temporary truce in Gaza, protesters in the U.S. calling for a ceasefire have disrupted everything from commutes in New York City to a parade in Los Angeles. While that is very important, so is the statement by member Rebecca Mauer, which is not getting much media attention.

Just incidentally, Rebecca Mauer is Jewish, and she is an out lesbian.
The voice you hear trying to shout her down is that of our friend Alex Popivker. Council President Griffin had to gavel him down.
Earlier, Popivker and his wife Sarah actually spoke in favor of the genocide, for all the world to see and hear.
Our speakers were excellent, and I think Rebecca's statement, though not the one I would make, is a very consequential crack in the proverbial dam, and should have gotten more mainstream attention.
