Hello, to all Strikers!
Tomorrow Toledo will #ClimateStrike with thousands of others around the planet! I am excited to strike with you on this historic day!
We have some new participants on this email. If you just signed up, make sure to read the info below in bold first for info on what we are doing tomorrow.
I just wanted to let you know what our message is for tomorrow:
1. We are here to support the youth/children at this strike
2. We are asking for the end of the Fossil Fuel Age
3. We want to create jobs locally by moving to Renewable Energy
If anyone wants to speak with the media, let me know. Please be advised, if you are under the age of 18, you need your parent's consent to be interviewed by the media.
One volunteer has offered a speaker with a mike. We'll see if we can find power, but if not, we'll have a large banner, all our signs, and a megaphone. We also have the opportunity to be part of the multi-city stream around the world. I have the app loaded on my phone so that we can join.If anyone would like to be in charge of doing this, I would appreciate it.
Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you so much for all the great responses to "I #ClimateStrike because."
See you tomorrow at Levis Square in downtown Toledo at 12:30! Many people are joining today, please keep spreading the word!
Jennifer

Hi, Climate Strikers!
We only have 2 more nights until the strike, and I need some help. Stories move us, spring us into action, cause us to reflect on how things are, reckon with how they need to change, and so much more. When we tell our stories we make our movement visible, and catch the attention of the media and the general public. I want to hear your stories. Please send me 2-3 sentences about why you are striking, then take the time to make a sign, large enough to hold and be read, that has one sentence that says: "I #ClimateStrike because..."
My sign will say: "I #ClimateStrike so that my children will have a healthy life."
All of us will have different reasons why we are striking. The plan is to have all of us line-up in a straight line with our signs, so that people will walk by each one of us, and they are able to read why we strike. It will also make a really cool video to move up and down the line, showing our stories. I am planning on sending a media advisory tonight, and this plan will be in that advisory. The more people we have in the line with signs, the more powerful it will be.
We have already had volunteers bringing a large banner that says: "There is No Planet B!" Thank you!
I also need:
1. Cardboard pieces large enough to make signs
2. Extra Markers (wide tip would be the best)
3. A volunteer to make media calls about 15 min before the strike
4. A volunteer to take photos
5. A volunteer to take live video
6. A megaphone and/or portable speaker
I will be arriving early and taping 11x17 pieces of climate art to the ground (they are beautiful!) for inspiration for our sign-makers. My children will help people with the art-making if they choose to make a sign.
Also, I have had feedback, and I realize that some of you are not familiar with youth skipping school and striking every Friday for the past year, and this strike, they are asking the adults to join them. Here is a video and a link to give you some background:
What the Strike is Internationally (we are up to over 6500 strikes now!)

Why we are skipping work and school:
And this is how it started:
MANY people have not heard of the movement. At this Climate Strike, we can educate them. I'll send a copy of the media advisory, to you all as soon as I finish it.
Please reply to just me, with your 2-3 sentences on why you are striking, and reply and let me know how you are able to help. Spread the word!
My children and I are excited to meet all of you!
