Friends, the contingency plan for the response by Northwest Ohio peace and justice advocates against the start of a U.S. war against Iran is simple, but please take note, because an immediate, noisy response will be essential.
By "start of war" we mean a military strike -- most likely an intense bombing event -- taken against military and/or civilian targets within or belonging to Iran. The Trump administration naively believes it can bomb a limited target and that there will be no retaliation by Iran, when in fact, Iran has longstanding arrangements to touch off a regionwide conflict as its response.
1) If war is begun and becomes public in the morning hours of a given day, there will be a rally and demonstration convened at the corner of Secor and Central Avenues in west Toledo, Ohio at 5:00 p.m. that day, for 1.5 to 2 hours.
2) If war commences and becomes public knowledge in the afternoon hours of a given day, the rally and demo will be convened at Secor and Central at 5:00 the next (following) day, for 1.5 to 2 hours.
3) After such an event interested activists will likely meet immediately afterwards at a nearby location to firm up a coalition against the war and to determine further public actions.
Please post this, periodically (after each new provocation in the coming weeks) to all lists on which you're a member. We must build citizen resistance immediately to counter the present lack of public pushback against war on Iran. Please make sure your friends and family know of this.
Thank you.
