NWOPC CONFERENCE MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2014

Those who attended: Karen Wolf, Jeff Klein, Terry Lodge, Steve Miller, Valerie Crow, Tom McDonald.

CLIMATE CHANGE MARCHERS: 40 people are marching from California to New York to get across the importance of Climate Change. They will be passing through Toledo on Friday, September 25 thru Sunday, the 28. Tom McDonald and many people of various faith groups will be feeding, housing, and creating teach-ins for them. NWOPC is going to have an action to bring attention and support to this group.

                Tom McDonald outlined what he knows about this group.

                Valerie Crow is going to contact the organizers of the March to see what kind of action they are interested in participating in.

                Terry Lodge suggested that we tie any action to the oil refineries in town. He also said that we need to meet soon to get this together.

                Shortly after the meeting, Steve Miller was able to secure the Kelly Room at the Main Branch Library at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, September 16, for our meeting.

DRONE DEMO – We will be participating in Campaign Nonviolence Action on Sunday, September 28 with our GROUND THE DRONES demonstration at Secor and Central  from noon to 1:30 PM. It is hoped that many can attend, and perhaps Jeff Zenz can bring the drone that he built out of our tombstones. Jeff Klein has a eye-catching anti-drone banner.

CAMPAIGN TO GET RID OF ISIS – Jeff Klein said that we must develop a strategy to voice our opposition to the impending three year war on ISIS that President Obama has just outlined. We will address this soon.
